EDMONTON, Ky. – Chairman Joey Shive is stepping down from the Metcalfe County Board of Education.

According to the district, Shive served Metcalfe County Schools for 13 years.

In his resignation letter, Shive stated, “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the students, staff and community of Metcalfe County.”

Shive was first elected to the school board in 2011 as a representative of district two, serving Knob Lick, Kentucky, as well as Wisdom, Kentucky and western areas of Metcalfe County.

Metcalfe County Schools says Shive led academic and education initiatives that helped push Metcalfe County Schools in a positive direction.

Superintendent Josh Hurt said, “Joey Shive has served this community with honor for many years. He has been outstanding in his role as board chair and worked continually with integrity. I congratulate him on his years of service and look forward to the great things he will do next for Metcalfe County.”

The district says the board will consider Shive’s resignation during its next meeting on March 12, when they will begin the process to fill the vacant position.
