Celebrating youth service workers

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – February 5th to February 9th is School Counselor Appreciation Week and Family Resource & Youth Services Appreciation Week this year, where a little light is shone on people who often work behind the scenes.

News 40 spoke to Ben Kirtley, Director of Family Resource & Youth Services at Warren County Public Schools and Amy Osboe, a school counselor concerning the occasion. The two do a lot of work usually together, that many in the community might not see.

Kirtley told News 40 that he was a coordinator for most of his 25 years prior to becoming  director and that he cannot sing the praises of coordinators enough. He said the relationship between counseling and the family resource center is very close and neither would be as great without the other.

Osboe said that many times, students are shared between the two. When working on one issue, according to Osboe, one problem can be a symptom of another.
