Carneiro heads to SEC, announces commitment to Ole Miss

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The college football transfer portal has been filled with Hilltoppers following the team’s loss to Jacksonville State in the Conference USA championship game, and one of the latest players to move out of Bowling Green is the 2024 Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Year, Lucas Carneiro.

Carneiro shared on his Instagram on Monday that he will be moving from C-USA to the SEC, joining the University of Mississippi Rebels football team.

The redshirt sophomore out of North Carolina had a phenomenal season for the Tops, setting a program record for most consecutive made field goals with 18 straight.

From range, Carneiro was perfect, going five-for-five from 50+ yards, and the same holds true for his extra point skills, making all 41 PATs on the season.

Kickers are a dime a dozen in college football, and now WKU will be looking to fill the spot of one of the best in country, among the many other holes created by the transfer portal.
