California Wildfire Forces Evacuations

Residents living in the path of the "Caldwell" fire burning in Modoc County have been told to leave their homes. KNVN's Ana Torrea reports.

(KNVN/NBC News) — Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for residents living in the path of the “Caldwell” wildfire burning in Modoc County, California.

The fire had consumed more than 60,000 acres as of Monday night, and remains at zero percent containment.

The National Forest Service says nearby thunderstorms caused strong gusty winds, which helped the fire spread rapidly.

Hot and dry conditions are expected to help fuel the fire in coming days.
