Butler County votes to keep lock and dam in place
MORGANTOWN, Ky. – At a fiscal court meeting, Butler County officials once again affirmed to keep what’s left of the lock and dam in Woodbury.
The United States Army Corps of Engineers visited Butler County once again this week to express safety concerns about the lock and dam in Woodbury which has become a popular recreational area since its failure in 1965. Due to several opposing concerns, the county voted to continue business as usual.
Officials expressed worries like loss of real estate for farmers as well as losing a significant piece of Butler County history.
