Burn ban lifted in Simpson County; officials urge caution during fall season

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Following recent weather, the outdoor burn ban in Simpson County has been lifted.
Simpson County judge-executive Mason Barnes made the announcement Wednesday on a social media post. Barnes issued the burn ban on Oct. 7 due to dry conditions, which presented a fire hazard.
Franklin-Simpson Fire Rescue says fall hazard burning season rules still apply. From Oct. 1 to Dec. 15 , burning within 150 feet of any woodland area is allowed only between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., according to the official website of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
In addition, officials say the City of Franklin requires a permit for burning within city limits.
Warren, Edmonson, Barren, Hart, Logan and Metcalfe counties remain under a burn ban at this current time.
