Brooks Houck, Joseph Lawson trial kicks off in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Today is the first day of the trial for Brooks Houck and Joseph Lawson in connection with the death of Crystal Rogers.

Jury selection lasted from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the trial expected to take up to 10 days.

In total, there will be 15 jurors made up of 12 dedicated jurors and three alternates.

Forty-three-year-old Brooks Houck, Rogers’ ex-boyfriend, faces charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence, while 34-year-old Joseph Stephen Lawson is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.

This follows the death of Rogers, who disappeared from Bardstown in 2015 and whose body was never found.

Last month, News 40 followed the local trial for a third man in connection to this case, Steven Lawson, who was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Today’s trial for Houck and Joseph Lawson was moved to Bowling Green due to extensive coverage in the Louisville and Lexington television markets.

News 40 will be present to follow the trial and provide the latest updates.
