Bright Coalition, a group wanting a healthier Barren River Area
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A nonprofit, comprised of citizens and health focused organizations in the Barren River Area Development District, is soon launching their community health survey.
BRIGHT Coalition, is a group that many might not know about, but to get some insight, News 40 had a small conversation with the group today. BRIGHT stands for Barren River Initiative to Get Healthy Together, and organizations like the Med Center, Parks & Rec and regular citizens come together to figure out ways to rally the community for everyone’s benefit.
They’ve done things like work with Adult Day Center, Build a Bed and many other programs. Recently, they’ve begun to give out grants for qualifying initiatives and are constantly looking to add to their ranks.
News 40 spoke with one member today, who said there are a number of sectors including nutrition, substance use, physical activity and newly formed mental health.
BRIGHT’s meetings are public and posted on the BRIGHT Coalition Facebook page, as well as their website, brightcoalition.org.
Ashli Mccarty with BRIGHT said to be on the lookout for their survey that they encourage the whole BRADD area to engage in, as well as consider joining BRIGHT if you’re interested in being involved in helping to bring health based programs to light in 2024.
