Briarwood Elementary brings glass blowing to school

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Monday morning, elementary school students at Briarwood Elementary got a pretty good taste of fine art, right in front of them.

Susan McCloud, an art teacher at Briarwood and Cumberland Trace told News 40 that today was a great day to inspire kids to think outside of the box. According to McCloud, she recently did a project with students that mirrored a piece of work by a famous glass artist, and from then she set out to bring the kiln to them.

Jackson Hawkins, a graduate of South Warren came home to demonstrate to the kids how glass blowing works, taking some time off from his job as an educator at Missouri University Science and Technical.
