UPDATE: Identity of teen killed in Barren Co. motorcycle crash released

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Barren County EMT and volunteer firefighter has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash involving a motorcycle.

KSP public affairs officer trooper Katan Parker says KSP received a call about a fatal collision on Scottsville Road at Finney Road just before 3 pm on Friday.

KSP’s investigation shows that a motorcycle, operated by 19-year-old Zachary Raney of Glasgow was traveling south on Scottsville Road in Glasgow when it crossed the center line and into the path of a freightliner driven by 53-year-old Pere Vega of Louisville. Vega was traveling north on Scottsville Road.

Parker says Raney was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Deputy coroner.

According to an obituary by Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, Raney was a graduate of Barren County High School and an EMT with the Barren-Metcalfe County Ambulance Service. He had also recently joined the Haywood Volunteer Fire Department, according to the obituary.

No other injuries have been reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
