BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – An arrest has been made in a 2024 murder investigation in Marshall County.

According to a release, Kentucky State Police 1, with the assistance of Kentucky State Police Post 3 in Bowling Green, arrested 39-year-old Haley Nelson, of Bowling Green, following an indictment by the Marshall County Grand Jury in the 2024 murder of Jesse Moore.

KSP says Nelson was identified as a suspect in the investigation, and the case was presented to the grand jury on February 5.

The indictment charged Nelson with murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Nelson was arrested Friday in Bowling Green and lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.

According to a social media post by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, KSP began investigating the death of Jesse Moore on June 27, 2024.

WPSD reports that the US Forestry Service notified KSP of an abandoned vehicle located in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Troopers conducted a welfare check on 44-year-old Jesse Moore, of Benton, KY, who was known to operate the vehicle regularly.

Troopers responded to a residence in the Possum Trot area of Marshall County to attempt to make contact with Jesse Moore. When they arrived at the residence, they located a deceased male who appeared to have suffered from a gunshot wound.

An autopsy confirmed the identity of the deceased male to be Jesse Moore, according to WPSD.
