Bowling Green-Warren County Bar Association holds annual ceremony

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green-Warren County Bar Association gathered Wednesday to fellowship as well as dole out some awards.

The annual ceremony is a time for old friends to catch up, give acceptance speeches and of course bond over the common strife that can be litigation. Three attorneys walked out with a new award Wednesday afternoon. News 40 spoke to winners as the afternoon whined down.

The big award for the association is the William H. Natcher award, which represents Congressman Natcher’s humility and selfless service. It can only be won by retirees and this year went to Charles E. English, who actually grew up watching Natcher work in court.

Attorney Mark Alcott won an award as well for pro bono services, saying he represents those who “don’t have the resources to pay for legal counsel, and they are going through disasters such as the tornado, or they’re dealing with a family member, the deceased, and they need assistance in figuring out how to deal with those day to day situations. and they’ve never dealt with the lawyer before, much less talked with one”.

B. Alan Simpson also took home a plaque for “outstanding community service”.
