Bowling Green Tree Advisory Board prepares for the 2026 Arbor Day event

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Tree Advisory Board is preparing for the annual Arbor Day event coming in April.

The annual event takes place each year in April and sees numerous local businesses and organizations gathering to celebrate the trees and what they do for the community.

Everyone is welcome to come celebrate and even take a tree of their own, as there will be a free tree giveaway happening throughout the course of the day.

The event serves as a celebration of what trees can do for the environment and as a reminder that it takes a village to plant these trees.

“They’re not going to be there unless we plant them,” said Clara Verst, board member of the Bowling Green Tree Advisory. “And so this is a wonderful opportunity for people to come and get free trees and add them to their yards. And really, it’s a simple act that you can do. And planting a tree that will make a big difference for many years to come.”

Arbor Day will take place Saturday, April 25 at Kereiakes Park. In the event that it rains, the Tree Advisory Board will hold a free tree drive-thru giveaway.
