Bowling Green Public Works hosts Muddy Water Blues 2024
BOWLING GREEN, KY.- In Bowling Green, Kentucky, a former trash dump has been transformed into a hands-on training ground for construction workers. Every year, the city’s Public Works Department hosts the KY Muddy Water Blues Training, focusing on erosion prevention and sediment control. This year’s training took place at the Glen Lily Historic Landfill, where workers from across South Central Kentucky learned to build small-scale Best Management Practices (BMPs) that help keep construction sites clean and safe for the environment.
Environmental Manager Matt Powell shared that it’s rewarding to help others improve their skills, adding that the teaching goes both ways. “We’re thrilled to share what we’ve learned, and at the same time, these guys are teaching us,” Powell said. The event gives workers the tools they need to reduce pollution on construction sites, benefiting both the community and the environment.
This isn’t the last time the Muddy Water Blues will be in Bowling Green. This valuable resource that will continue to grow, helping to create more sustainable construction practices for years to come.
