Bowling Green police raise funds for fellow officer battling cancer

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department is raising money for a fellow officer with a chili lunch fundraiser on Oct. 25.

Officer Dale Barbiea has been with the department for almost 20 years and is now battling cancer, putting him on medical leave and requiring medical treatment.

News 40 spoke to BGPD public information officer Ronnie Ward about Barbiea, who he and the rest of the department are rooting for.

Ward said the hope is that the chili will bring some financial relieve and raise his spirits.

Ward said the fundraising event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until the department is sold out, but if you can’t make it out, you can still donate at here.
