Bowling Green police, fire department respond to homeless camp fire

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Fire Department and the Bowling Green Police Department responded to a complaint of smoke Friday morning off Louisville Road.

The BGPD said when responders arrived, they found several fires west of the Louisville Road bridge in the wooded area. The fires were quickly extinguished, but one man received minor burn injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The fire caused a traffic jam around 8:30 a.m. along Louisville Road as part of the road was shut down, which has been opened back up. The fire was started around 8 a.m., according to the fire department.

Police said the injured man will be charged in relation to the fire at a later date.
