Bowling Green neighborhood trapped by floodwaters, officials say

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A neighborhood off of Brewster Lane near Morgantown Road is currently trapped by floodwaters, according to director of Bowling Green Public Works Andy Souza.

Souza describes the incident as an emergency situation, prompting crews to find an easement that connects just off of the adjacent street off of Duchess Drive.

Souza says public works crews will begin work tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. to provide a temporary road.

The emergency road will allow emergency services to service the neighborhood, officials say.

Souza says, “This was an unpredictable storm, in terms of what the water’s doing, we’ve had our geologists look at it. It could drain tomorrow, it could take two weeks to drain, so in the interest of public safety, we’re going to put this emergency road in.”

News 40 crews have responded to the scene and will provide additional details as they become available.
