Bowling Green native Michael Cordova sets new speed record in diesel drag racing

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green native is making waves in the diesel drag racing world, setting a record for the fastest speed in his car.

Also known as The Ninja, Michael Cordova is a well-known name in the community.

He previously broke the ET, or elapsed time, record with 3.877 seconds at over 191 miles per hour.

He went on to top his own record at 3.83 seconds at a whopping 203 miles per hour, which is now the fastest speed in diesel drag racing history.

Cordova tells us how he felt in the moments after breaking the record.

“My wife couldn’t be there… I FaceTimed her immediately and my new son. It just felt like… I could feel it in my heart… I still have a smile on my face for it,” he says.

His next goal is to bring his time down to around 3.7 seconds while still staying in the 200 mile per hour range.

You can catch him in action at Beech Bend Raceway on July 12th & 13th as he continues his quest for a new record.
