Bowling Green man charged with trafficking in fentanyl

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Several thousand M-30 fentanyl pills have been seized following an arrest in Bowling Green.

The Bowling Green – Warren County Drug Task Force says it purchased more than 1,000 of the pills during a covert drug purchase Monday.

Tyrell Whitney, 26, of Bowling Green was later arrested during a traffic stop, officials say.

A release states law enforcement seized $2,308 in cash from Whitney.

The drug task force says it later obtained a search warrant for Whitney’s residence off of Moss Creek Avenue.

Officials say they at the home, they found 1,879 additional M-30 fentanyl tablets, around 1 pound of high-grade processed marijuana, THC marijuana edibles as gummies, $29,426 in cash and two handguns.

The investigation is ongoing.

Whitney is charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (over 29 grams of fentanyl), one count of trafficking in a controlled substance (over 28 grams of fentanyl) (enhancement), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and trafficking in marijuana (between 8 ounces and 5 pounds) (firearms enhancement).

He remains at the Warren County Detention Center.
