Bowling Green man charged with drug trafficking after fleeing police

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing drug trafficking charges after police say he fled from a traffic stop.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Thursday due to a canceled registration status.

Police say the driver had gotten out of the vehicle and was told to get back inside. During this time, authorities say they saw a bag with white powder in it.

Officer say the male, identified as 29-year-old Jaquan Wilson of Bowling Green, ran from the scene.

Police say they chased Wilson and deployed a taser before he was brought into custody.

According to authorities, Wilson had two bags of suspected cocaine in his hand. In addition, police say they found a bag of approximately 6.1 grams of suspected cocaine outside of the vehicle.

At the Warren County Detention Center, police say they found suspected methamphetamine in Wilson’s sock, along with two Hydrocodone pills.

Wilson is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (greater than or equal to 4 grams of cocaine), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (hydrocodone), third-degree fleeing or evading police, no registration plates, failure of owner to maintain required security/insurance and operating on a suspended or revoked operators license.
