Bowling Green man arrested on criminal mischief, drug charges in Edmonson County

CHALYBEATE, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing criminal mischief and drug charges following an incident in Edmonson County Monday.

According to a uniform citation, the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1875 Wingfield Church Road to a report of a woman saying an unknown man was sitting on her porch and under a tree.

When deputies arrived, they located 36-year-old Jeremy Hopkins, of Bowling Green.

Hopkins fled the scene on foot and into a barn, according to the citation.

A deputy says Hopkins would not come out of the barn and had slurred speech.

The deputy detained Hopkins, and he allegedly resisted arrest.

Hopkins was eventually arrested and administered an Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement test. The deputy says Hopkins failed the test.

According to a second uniform citation, Hopkins allegedly damaged a wire to the passenger side light of a jail transport car, removed seatbelt clips and tampered with the prisoner partition in the vehicle.

Hopkins is charged with public intoxication – controlled substance (excludes alcohol), resisting arrest, second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot) and first-degree criminal mischief.

Hopkins was lodged at the Hart County Jail but has since been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
