Bowling Green Junior High hosts Hispanic heritage celebration
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green Junior High School celebrated Hispanic heritage with a rally in the gymnasium featuring music, dancing and piñatas.
Earlier Wednesday, a panel of Hispanic leaders from different careers spoke to the students, and Hispanic games in the cafeteria added to the fun.
The events taught students about Latin culture and history, but there was no doubt that this was a celebration.
Isabela Castillo, an eighth grader at BGJHS, said, “I thought that it was really amazing and fun. We get a show like the traditional dances and the music.”
Another student also shared what the event taught them.
Lucy Addington, a seventh grader at BGJHS, said, “I got to learn about the first Hispanic woman who went to space, and we are talking about a bunch of others, like Hispanic people who did a bunch of amazing stuff.”
The favorite part of the whole day was the L.E.D. Aztec robot who performed and danced with the kids. Hispanic Heritage Month started on Sept. 15 and continues through Oct. 15.
