BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Superintendent Gary Fields has announced the appointment of Delvagus Jackson as the new director of alternative programs and safety for Bowling Green Independent Schools.

According to the district, Jackson will lead districtwide educational and safety initiatives, supervising teachers and staff in several areas, including Home Hospital and Second Opportunity district programs, as well as the education program at the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center and the Crisis Stabilization Unit.

Each of these programs provide support to students facing unique challenges.

In addition, the district says Jackson will work with the district leadership team for safety initiatives, including accident reporting, to maintain a safe and prepared learning community.

Fields says, “Delvagus brings years of leadership experience and a commitment to student success and staff well-being, which align with the priorities of this role. We look forward to welcoming him to the district team.”

Prior to employment with BGISD, he spent a year as assistant principal of Franklin-Simpson Middle School and eight years as a high school algebra and geometry teacher.

He begins as director of alternative programs and safety on January 6, 2025.

An interim principal will be selected to lead the remainder of the school year at Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary School. The search for a permanent replacement will begin in February 2025.
