Bowling Green honors late community member

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Monday, Bowling Green took time to honor a late hero of their community.

Danny Carothers passed away unexpectedly early last week and since then, it’s been nothing but an outpouring of support and love from those whose lives he’s touched. Carothers was a coach, a volunteer and a friend, among many other titles to many people in Bowling Green.

At the Housing Authority of Bowling Green, he was well known to go out of his way to make sure everyone had what they needed. At The Foundry, he treated the children there as is they were his own grand kids, going so far as to drive their preschoolers around for their spring prom.

Danny’s son, Dre Carothers, said he knew his father was a busy man but had no idea the impact he made on the Bowling Green Community.

“I knew he’d done a lot of stuff in the community through churches and organizations. But to this magnitude, it’s really been amazing. And we see all the love going through social media tags, notes, pictures, you know, just starting honors, stuff we didn’t even know about. He’s getting awards here, there. And man, it felt real good to see that, you know, that’s my father and I seen it, you know, now I know why he was always busy,” Dre Carothers said.

Dre says the outstanding support from the community was shocking and that he could not thank everybody enough for their love and support of his father.
