Bowling Green Holds Inaugural Duck Drop

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The city of Bowling Green dropped 300 rubber ducks as part of their newest tradition on Monday.

The duck drop was a fundraiser for 2025’s Duncan Hines Days in Bowling Green, where individuals could purchase a duck for $5 that was marked with a number between 1 and 300. The ducks were then dropped from around 30 feet in the air thanks to Bowling Green Public Works, onto a target on the ground.

The duck who was closest to the target won a prize basket valued at $800 that was fed in to by 15 local businesses in the downtown area. It was the city’s way of both encouraging the public to shop local and remind everyone that the festivities are just a mere 6 months away.
