Scouting America hosts annual luncheon in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Monday afternoon, local businesses gather at the National Corvette Museum for a good cause.
Local businesses would gather at the National Corvette Museum for a good cause – the Friends of Scouting Luncheon Fundraiser.
The event supports local scouting programs, fostering leadership, community engagement and allowing youth that would otherwise be unable to afford to join the scouts or attend summer camps the opportunity for adventure.
Former judge executive Mike Buchanon also received the inaugural Distinguished Citizen Award for his contributions to the community.
Senior district director Josh Hutcheson says he hopes moments like these touch the next generation.
Hutcheson says, “It’s important to inspire others. I think that is what Mike has done, and I think hopefully that is what the scouts have done. Hearing some of their stories, how it’s impacted their youth, made them better citizens, better people, better siblings, husbands, fathers, mothers, you know, as well, we have girls in scouts too. It’s important to share those stories so we can inspire others and show that they can make a difference in their community as well.”
A lot of scout members need financial assistance to have adventures.
Fundraisers like this one help provide those experiences.
Today, those in attendance raised $32,000 for our region.
