Bowling Green Fire Department grant application for $3.8M
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Bowling Green Fire Department is pushing for more funding. Fire stations across Bowling Green are operating with staffing three people, but there is a possibility that fire stations will be able to operate with four team members.
During the Bowling Green City Commissioner Meeting, the Bowling Green Fire Department got approval from the city to apply for $3.8 million.
We sat down with chief Justin Brooks, who said, “This grant doesn’t just add numbers to the station, it has also proven that the firefighters are more efficient with four crew members.”
Brooks continued, “A crew of four arrived at the last circle and did a very special thing, not only were they able to extinguish the fire, but they were able to perform a primary search of that apartment and they were able to rescue two victims who are still alive today.”
This is the third year the Bowling Green Fire Department has applied for this grant. This grant will not only impact every fire station in the city limits of Bowling Green, it will also ensure that they maintain the standard of BGFD.
