BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Wednesday at 9 a.m., the Bowling Green Fire Department dedicated its third Safe Haven Baby Box at Fire Station 6 on Cherry Farm Lane.

This marks Kentucky’s 53rd box and the 341st nationwide.

These temperature-controlled baby boxes feature a silent alarm, instantly alerting 911 when a newborn is placed inside. They offer parents in crisis a safe, anonymous way to surrender an infant within 30 days of birth, ensuring immediate medical care and quick placement with an adoptive family.

Many remember Bowling Green made national headlines in February 2023 when a newborn was safely surrendered to the city’s first baby box less than two months after its installation.

This new blessing reinforces Bowling Green’s commitment to being a safe haven for its most vulnerable.
