Bowling Green East wins Little League District finals
BOWLING GREEN, Ky – Bowling Green East took the diamond today at Ephram White Park and left as the district champions after their 17-0 win over Logan County in the District 1 Major League finals.
In just four innings, East put up 17 runs, including three RBI’s and one home run by Henry Phillips while Jake Young only allowed one hit in three innings pitched.
Captain Carr, Asa Buchanan and Brady Boyd each had two RBI’s.
In the tournament as a whole, East scored 58 runs while only allowing two runs.
After the big win, some of the guys on the team shared their excitement and what they expect to do at state.
“Having more fun, playing with friends, having fun with friends and hopefully more winning,” Jake Young said.
“We’ve been playing since we were like, seven,” Henry Phillips said. “So, we really know everyone really good and have good chemistry.”
“It’s very exciting,” head coach Jef Goodnight said. “This is what Little League is about, especially in East Little League. We said we have a very good tradition and program, right? So, we set an expectation and to come through this tournament and do as well as we did. I think we gave up two runs for the entire tournament – pretty good. We have a very special team. They’ve played together for several years, and they just do the things they are asked and they work hard. This is the fruits of their labor.”
