Bowling Green East 12U headed back to state championship game
MARION COUNTY, Ky. – Tuesday morning, the Bowling Green East 12U little league squad competed in the state semifinals, and after five innings, defeated North Laurel 13-0 to advance back into the championship game.
The squad has done the little things right throughout postseason play, staying positive the whole way, and now they are one step closer to their goal of advancing to Williamsport and the Little League World Series.
BG East’s 12U manager, Chris Brown, shared how the team competes one day at a time, not looking too far ahead or dwelling in the past, and now with one game left to decide the top team in the Bluegrass, Brown believes his boys are up to the task.
“ They’re ready for this challenge, and it will be. We expect a dog fight with them. We’ve seen them play and they’ve seen us play and they know [we’re] going to have lockdown pitching on both sides,” Brown said. “It’s going to be a good game from both teams, both very talented teams.”
East’s 12U team will take on Lexington Eastern at noon central time at Graham Memorial Park in Lebanon, KY.
Also competing for the top spot in the state are BG East 10U (10 a.m. CT) and Warren County South 11U (11 a.m. CT).
