Bikes stolen from campus

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Over the past week, Western Kentucky University Police have responded to several reports of bicycle thefts.

Bicycle thefts are common during the beginning of the school year as students and faculty often bike to and from campus.

Thefts occur typically when bikes are not locked up, but recently bike locks have been cut with bolt cutters, according to WKU Police Officer Tim Gray.

Police strongly recommending locking your bike up with a strong and sturdy lock such as a U-lock instead of a more easily broken cord lock.

Another tip is to pay attention to what you lock your bike to.

Make sure the bike is locked to a sturdy, secure, and not easily broken item such as a bike rack.
