WASHINGTON (NBC News) — Democrats are expected to hand President Biden his first legislative victory Wednesday, a $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill that includes billions for states, local governments, schools, vaccines and small businesses.

It also includes $1,4000 to low and middle-income Americans.

“Once the Rescue Plan is signed, we’ll be able to start getting payments out this month,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday.

Democrats have the votes to make it happen without Republican support.

Meanwhile, President Biden will meet with the CEOs of drug makers Merck and Johnson & Johnson. The rival companies are working together to speed up production of the new one-dose COVID vaccine.
