Warren RECC: TVA asks consumers to reduce power usage
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The TVA is asking to reduce electricity usage due to a tighter power supply situation from extreme temperatures.
Warren RECC stated the TVA is asking residential, commercial and industrial consumers to reduce power as much as possible from 2 to 5 p.m. until further notice to help ensure a continued power supply to avoid interruptions in service.
Consumers should postpone using electric appliances such as dishwashers, dryers and cooking equipment until later in the day, reduce the use of air conditioning by raising thermostats a few degrees and turn off lights that aren’t essential, appliances and other electrical equipment. In addition, consumers can use the microwave oven or grill outside to keep the kitchen cooler.
During temperature extremes, don’t forget to check on relatives, friends and neighbors to ensure their safety.
