BGMU sending crews to help those affected by Hurricane Helene
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – BGMU is currently sending crews to various regions of the southeast that have been impacted by Hurricane Helene.
Two crews from BGMU are on their way out. One crew of six employees was in Marietta, Georgia Thursday to help with storm restoration, or bringing power back to affected residents. They are now on their way to East Tennessee.
Another crew of five linemen are on their way to the area of Johnson City Saturday morning as well, where flooding has hit the hardest.
We spoke to staff with BGMU, who tell us how important helping out their fellow regions are in times of need.
“Mutual aid is very important for all utility companies. You never know when you’re going to be impacted by a natural disaster. So it’s important for us to be part of that and to help other communities when we can,” marketing coordinator Shelley Lowe says.
She adds crews will be working between 12 & 16 hour days helping to restore power to those affected by flooding.
She thanks the crew members for being customer focused and being so willing to help others, not just in our community but around the region as well.
We hope both BGMU crews return home safely!
