BG Chamber celebrates ATHENA, small business award recipients

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Local businesses gathered Tuesday to celebrate individuals nominated to be ATHENA and small business award recipients.

To receive the ATHENA Award, an individual supports the community by pursuing the highest levels of professional achievements while helping women on the way.

This year, 2022, Michele Humphrey of American Bank and Trust Co. won the ATHENA Award. Mike Hughes of the Cambridge Market and Cafe won Small Business Person of the Year as well. They were recognized by the community at the Knicely Center this morning during a luncheon, which was hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.

“The Athena Award is so important to this community and many many communities sponsored by the Martin Automotive Group who brought it here, years and years ago knowing they wanted to celebrate women,” said Don Johnson, vice president of partner services at the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce. “It’s a phenomenal opportunity to celebrate women to get them on a next level, to help promote women and women’s development and growth.”

The honor recognized involvement in the bowling green community and how others invested themselves into future business owners by being a role model everyday.
