Barren River Area Development District starts Drug Policy Office

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Barren River Area Development District has started a new office to manage the region’s response to the opioid crisis and assist those in a mental health crisis.

Kentucky’s general assembly awarded the organization $20 million dollars to allow it to help aid individuals with drug addictions and mental health problems. BRADD’s anchor project involves three different parts, one of which being the Director of the Office of Drug Policy which News 40 spoke to.

Brooke Edwards told us she will be managing the design and implementation of the new mental health crisis intake center in Bowling Green, and the life learning center in Hart County. Edwards said she is excited to help execute the program , expecting the intake center to be completed by the end of 2025 and the learning center in 2026.
