Barren County students’ art to be displayed at Kentucky State Fair
BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – A few Barren County School District students will have their art work displayed at the Kentucky State Fair.
Over 1,000 kids from across the state submitted their art work for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture Poster and Essay Contest.
This year’s, ‘Kentucky Agriculture Makes Me Proud,’ allowed students to showcase all aspects that make up the Commonwealth. Most students included popular cattle and crops found in the state.
Out of 25 winners who were chosen, six of them were from Barren County. Some used personal experience of living on their family farm for inspiration for their pieces.
Brothers, 9-year-old Landon and 7-year-old Lane Staples of Hiseville Elementary, used their cows in their drawings. Outside of art, Lane says he loves to spend time with his animals. Landon reveals he was inspired by his polaroid camera and drew “stuff that represents Kentucky.”
Two upcoming high school freshmen, Amber Williquer and Ann Katherine Wright, say they are excited to continue making art at the next level.
