Barren County Sheriff’s Office warns public of new phone scam

GLASGOW, Ky. – The Barren County Sheriff’s Office wants the public to be aware of a new scam.

The office says the caller will identify as Deputy Mark Milton, badge #0394A. The office says this is a false name and badge number. The caller tells victims that they have warrants for an arrest for missed court dates.

The caller requests money to be sent via gift cards.

The office says it will not call regarding missing court dates and any money owed for outstanding warrants.

Individuals who receive these phone calls are asked to not give any personal information and hang up on the call.
