GLASGOW, Ky. – Barren County Schools has named Erika DeVore as the district’s new director of instruction, federal programs and after-school programming.

According to the district, DeVore brings over 20 years of experience in education. Since 2017, school officials say DeVore served as principal of Eastern Elementary School, where she was been recognized for her commitment to student achievement, instructional excellence and building strong relationships with students, families and staff.

Before working at Easter Elementary, the district says she served as principal of Clarkson Elementary from 2014 to 2017 and taught English at Grayson County High School for 10 years.

In her new role, DeVore will oversee district elementary curriculum and instructional initiatives, federal programs and after-school programming. According to the district, she will work closely with school leaders and teachers to support high-quality instruction and ensure students continue to have access to meaningful learning opportunities both during and beyond the school day.

“Erika is a proven instructional leader who has consistently put students first,” said Superintendent Amy Irwin. “She is committed to building strong school communities, supporting teachers, and developing opportunities to help students to thrive. We are excited to welcome her to this district leadership role and look forward to the impact she will have across Barren County Schools.”

DeVore said she is grateful for the opportunity to serve students, staff and families in a new capacity.

“I have been honored to serve as Eastern’s principal for the past nine years, and I am equally thrilled and honored to continue to serve the staff, students and families of all Barren County Schools,” she said.

The district says her appointment shows its continued commitment to “investing in strong instructional leadership and creating opportunities for every student to succeed.”
