Barren County man charged with arson

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man is facing an arson charge after a house fire broke out Tuesday.

Glasgow police learned from the Glasgow Fire Department of a fire on Grandview Avenue early this morning. Police say it seemed suspicious how it started.

Following further investigation, a Glasgow Police Department detective identified a suspect, Kermit Hall Jr., 55. Authorities say Hall stayed in the house the night before and started a fire in the living room from lighting a bag of charcoal in a tin pan.

Police say the fire consumed the living room, leading Hall to escape out the window and flee the scene.

Hall was arrested and charged with third-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief and criminal trespassing.
