Barren County High School student looks toward New York

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Julia Kinsman at only 18 years old might be a rising star in our midst.

Kinsman is a senior at Barren County High School graduating in the next couple of months, likely heading to somewhere in New England to continue her education in vocal performance. She’s a fan of classical music and hopes to hit it off as an opera singer.

Over the past 2 years, she’s been placed in competitions quite high and now has her sights set on the next big thing. She’s now a part of the National Opera Council through Opera America’s teen program, and is using that position to advocate for youth in rural areas who might also be fans of the arts. In addition to being Opera America’s “advocacy manager”, she’s awaiting word from some top schools like Julliard.
