Barren County High School honored with Purple Star Award
BARREN COUNTY, Ky.- Creating a welcoming school environment is a key factor for many families choosing the right school, especially for military parents.
One school in south-central Kentucky has earned special recognition for doing just that.
Barren County High School has been honored with the prestigious Purple Star Award this year. This award celebrates schools that go above and beyond to support students connected to the military.
At Barren County, JROTC students play a central role in maintaining a culture that respects and uplifts military families. Kentucky National Guard E-4 Lindsey Evans shared how important this support is for families like hers, with both her son and daughter in the JROTC program.
She emphasized that military families enable others to enjoy freedoms and opportunities, making this recognition even more meaningful. The school fosters a sense of purpose among students, encouraging them to be part of something greater than themselves.
Evans added that seeing teens dedicate themselves to service and community should not go unnoticed. With its commitment to military-connected families, Barren County High School sets a powerful example — and this likely won’t be the last time they are recognized for it.
