Barren County & Glasgow High Schools hold pep rally in downtown Glasgow

GLASGOW, Ky. – Sports rivalries can ignite some tension between schools, but in Barren County, the Trojans & Scotties come together to support each other.

Players and cheerleaders from both Barren County & Glasgow High Schools were on hand for a pep rally to hype up their fans ahead of the big rivalry game at Barren County High School.

Mayor Henry Royse was also there to proclaim the week of September 18th as Spirit Week in the City of Glasgow & Barren County.

Judge Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd, who has a bit of personal connections to the Trojan football team (her husband is the all-time leading rusher in Trojan football history), is excited to see her community come together in unity ahead of a big rivalry game.

“This community is just wonderful. I love raising my children here in Barren County. I love that this game is back… and it’s just… tonight is about making the kids understand that… hey, we’re excited. We support you no matter what… either team… and I love this event, honestly,” she says.

Byrd is also excited to see the growth of Barren County & Glasgow and can’t wait to see what’s next for both teams for the rest of the season.

We had to ask her for a final score prediction as well for News 40’s Game of the Week… she’s got the Trojans by a touchdown. We’ll have all the highlights from the big rivalry game on Football Frenzy.
