Barren County constable arrested, charged with assault

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Barren County constable was arrested New Year’s Day in what police say is an assault incident.

On Jan. 1, the Glasgow Police Department responded for a domestic complaint on Cranbrook Drive. Police say further investigation revealed that Joseph Ramey and a woman had been in a verbal dispute.

During this verbal altercation, Ramey assaulted the female victim, handcuffed her and held her against her will, according to police.

Ramey, 29, of Glasgow was arrested and is charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) no visible injury and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

The constable remains in the Barren County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
