“Back together again”, Smiths Grove first responders save lost dog
SMITHS GROVE, Ky. – Just a mile apart, a young pup by the name of Addison found herself down in a sinkhole for multiple days.
William Bush said his daughter’s dog ran away on May 21, which wasn’t unlikely, but became concerning after a couple of days. Bush said he and his wife posted Addison on Facebook as missing on the 25th after riding around the area for a few days. Fast forward a few days, a man named Cole Bessette, who lives just a mile away, said he heard barking from his porch five days before finding the dog.
Cole Bessette, along with his father Rick Bessette were bushhogging a field near Cole’s house, which they do just a few times a year. Somewhere between June 1 and May 21, Addison found herself at the bottom of a 12-foot sinkhole on that property, hungry and dehydrated.
Cole said he just so happened to look down that hole for the first time ever, always knowing that it was there but not a concern since the property owner had marked the hole with PCV pipe.
Once they found the dog, Rick, a Smiths Grove police officer, called his friend Kenneth Marr, who happens to be a firefighter in town.
Cole Bessette used Facebook to get in touch with the family and reunite the dog after almost two weeks of worry.
