Baby formula shortage has parents concerned
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Parents in our community are taking to social media to voice concerns over a baby formula shortage.
Savannah Pratt, Client Service Coordinator in The Center for Pregnancy says she thinks the low supply is due to a couple of reasons.
First, the pandemic had a major impact on the supply chain for over a year now. Additionally, when the tornado hit Bowling Green in December, many people bought multiple bottles of formula and donated them to organizations. The donations could then only go to tornado victims.
Most recently, there was a recall for Similac baby formula in January after one child died after consuming the formula.
“It breaks our hearts for them that they can’t find access to the things that help and take care of their children,” said Pratt.
The decreased supply has caused retailers such as Walgreens and Kroger to limit how many bottles each customer can purchase.
