BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Aviation Heritage Park and Museum has announced plans to open “The Thunderbirds Exhibit: The Pilots, the Crew, and their Legacy” at 10 a.m. on March 30.

According to a release by AHP, the exhibit will focus on members of the elite demonstration squadron of the United States Air Force, known as the Thunderbirds.

Retired brigadier general Dan Cherry, a Bowling Green resident and commander of the Thunderbirds from 1977-78, will be available to speak at the exhibit, along with rare artifacts, like helmets, flights suits and other items. This will all all help to tell the story of the pilots and their crew.

Visitors can also look forward to seeing an actual T-38 super-sonic jet, just like the ones used by the Thunderbirds from 1975-1982.

Thunderbird alum pilot Matt Byrd will also be flying over Bowling Green that day in a GB-1 Gamebird aircraft painted in Thunderbird livery, leaving a trail of smoke in honor of all who have ever been a part of this legendary team, the release states.

Several members of the Thunderbirds team will be there for the grand opening, where the public can meet them.

If you want to see the exhibit for yourself, you can find the Aviation Heritage Park and Museum at 1825 Three Springs Road.
