Tornado touchdown confirmed in Simpson County

FRANKLIN – The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down Friday night in Simpson County when a strong line of fast-moving storms swept through the area. It touched down in the north eastern corner of the county. A survey team was out as of 12:30 p.m. Saturday viewing the damage to confirm the size and strength of the tornado.

Update: Coroner identifies man killed when tree falls in Allen County

SCOTTSVILLE – An Allen County man was killed Friday night as strong storms moved through the area downing a tree on the man’s truck, Allen County Coroner Darren Davis said. Michael Birge, 38, was inside his truck on Washington School Road when the tree fell on top of it, Davis said. The Allen County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
