UPDATE: Auburn truck theft suspect in custody

UPDATE (JUNE 19, 20024 8:18am) – According to the Auburn Police Department, the subject of an alleged truck theft is now in custody.

The suspect has been identified as Joseph Kinkade.

The vehicle has been recovered in Tennessee.

The investigation was supported witness statements.

The Auburn Police Department was assisted by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

Update!!! Through investigation, along with assitance from the Logan County Sheriff’s department and statements from witnesses, the suspect was identified as Joseph Kinkade. The vehicle has been recovered in Tennessee and Kinkade has been taken into custody.

AUBURN, Ky. – The Auburn Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle theft.

On Monday at 7:45 pm, police received a call to the Minit Mart located on West Main Street in Auburn. The call was about a stolen motor vehicle complaint.

At the scene, the victim told police that while shopping inside the Minit Mart, an unknown subject entered his vehicle. The unknown subject entered the vehicle and drove it away.

Officers received video surveillance from local businesses. In the footage, the unknown subject can be seen walking on Main Street before the motor vehicle theft. Surveillance at Minit Mart shows the unknown subject entering the vehicle and driving away.

The vehicle is a dark blue 2019 Dodge Ram and the license plate is C1R058.

Police advise the public to not approach the unknown subject and vehicle if identified.
