ATV racing may come to Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green is becoming a destination for all things motor sports and pending approval from the Bowling Green City Commission on Tuesday, a new racing event may be coming to the area.

If the commissioners approve the plan, an ATV racing event will be held this spring.

Grand National Cross-Country Racing would come to Bowling Green May 16 and 17.

The event would be held at the landfill on Glen Lily Road and could bring 15,000 spectators to the area.

Officials from the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau say the event could have an economic impact of around $3 million.

“Any time we can bring new visitors to Bowling Green, we expose them not only to the event that they are here for, but all of the other attractions, hotels and restaurants that we have here in the community,” Janet Henderson, sales director Bowling Green Area Convention And Visitors Bureau.

Commissioners will cast their votes on the event tomorrow at City Hall. The meeting gets underway at 4:30 p.m.
